For me, the PowerMate was my first introduction to Griffin Technology. That’s the ‘shiny metal knobby thing’ I mentioned above. It was and is a highly functional device that can control a variety of things on your Mac, like volume control and scrolling through long documents (and so much more). I still have my original PowerMate and have been lusting for one of the black ones for a long time, and I still use it every day.
